Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
StrataEV Ready is a sole proprietorship based in British Columbia, Canada. We sell a one-time, personalized informational report that helps BC strata corporations plan for EV charging readiness.
- Website: https://www.strataev.ca
- Contact email: support@strataev.ca
- Operator / privacy contact: [TBD: full legal name of proprietor and mailing address — required under PIPEDA Principle 1 (Accountability) and PIPA s. 4–5. Operator should list a current BC mailing address, even if a P.O. box.]
In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to StrataEV Ready. "You" refers to any person who visits the website, fills out the questionnaire, or buys the report.
We are the organization responsible for personal information handled through the site. This policy describes what we collect, why, and what your rights are under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
2. What we collect
We try to collect as little as possible. Here is the full list.
From the questionnaire (before checkout)
You answer a short set of questions about your strata so we can generate a report. Typical fields include:
- Municipality and building year
- Number of units
- Whether any EV chargers are already installed
- Electrical Planning Report (EPR) status
- Similar non-sensitive profile details
These answers are stored only in your browser's sessionStorage until you check out. They are not sent to our servers until you click through to payment.
At checkout
- Email address (collected by Stripe Checkout and passed to us so we can deliver the report)
- Payment information (card data is handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number)
- Your questionnaire answers, which we attach to the Stripe Checkout session as metadata so our server can read them back after payment and generate your deliverables
Automatically, when you visit the site
- Google Analytics 4 usage data: pages visited, approximate location (city / region), device/browser type, referring site. IP addresses are anonymized by GA4 before storage (this has been GA4's default since 2023).
- Standard server logs from our hosting provider (Vercel), such as request times and user-agent strings, for security and debugging.
What we do not collect
- Social Insurance Numbers
- Health information
- Government ID numbers
- Banking information beyond what Stripe needs to process your card
- Information about children
3. Why we collect it
| Information | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Questionnaire answers | To generate your personalized PDF roadmap and templates |
| Email address | To deliver the report, send order confirmation, and respond to refund or support requests |
| Payment information | To charge the one-time $149 CAD purchase |
| GA4 analytics | To understand which pages are useful and to improve the site |
| Server logs | Security, abuse prevention, and debugging |
We rely on your consent (given when you submit the questionnaire and complete checkout) and on the contractual necessity of delivering what you paid for.
4. Who we share it with
We use a small number of reputable service providers. We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for advertising.
| Provider | Role | Where data may be processed |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing, checkout, receipts | Canada / United States |
| Resend | Sending the report and transactional email | United States |
| Google (GA4) | Website analytics | United States (and other Google locations) |
| Vercel | Website hosting, serverless functions | United States / global edge |
Because some of these providers are located outside Canada (mostly the United States), your information may be stored on or transit through servers in the U.S. While it is there, it may be subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access requests by foreign authorities. By using the site and buying the report, you consent to this cross-border handling.
We will also disclose information if we are legally required to (for example, a valid court order in British Columbia).
5. How long we keep it
We keep as little as possible, for as short as reasonably possible.
- Questionnaire answers: held in your browser's sessionStorage until you close the tab or check out. After checkout they sit in the Stripe Checkout session metadata long enough for our webhook to generate and email your deliverables, and are not copied into a separate customer database of ours.
- Email address and order record: retained by Stripe under Stripe's own retention policy (typically multi-year, to meet tax and payment-network requirements).
- Email delivery logs: held by Resend for approximately 30 days by default.
- GA4 data: retained per our GA4 configuration. [TBD: operator should confirm the GA4 "Data retention" setting in the property — default is 2 months or 14 months depending on property settings.]
- Server logs (Vercel): retained per Vercel's default log retention. [TBD: operator should confirm Vercel plan log retention.]
We do not operate a separate customer database. If you want a copy of your report re-sent, email us — we can usually re-generate it from the Stripe record.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:
- Stripe sets cookies as part of its fraud prevention and checkout process.
- Google Analytics 4 sets analytics cookies/identifiers to measure site usage. IPs are anonymized. We have not enabled Google Signals or ads personalization.
- Vercel may set short-lived cookies for load balancing and security.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party retargeting pixels.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking Stripe cookies may prevent checkout from working.
7. Your rights (PIPEDA and BC PIPA)
Subject to a few legal exceptions, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Withdraw consent to our future use of your information (this may mean we cannot continue to serve you)
- Ask questions or file a complaint about how we handle your information
To exercise any of these rights, email support@strataev.ca. We will respond within 30 days, as required by PIPEDA and PIPA. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact:
- Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada — https://www.priv.gc.ca
- Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia — https://www.oipc.bc.ca
8. How we protect your information
- The website runs over HTTPS / TLS.
- Payment card data is handled by Stripe and never touches our servers.
- We do not run a custom customer database, which reduces the surface area for breaches.
- Access to Stripe, Resend, Google Analytics, and Vercel admin accounts is limited to the operator and protected by strong passwords and multi-factor authentication where offered.
No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach does occur and creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the appropriate Commissioner, as required by PIPEDA.
9. Children
The site is aimed at strata council members and property managers. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email support@strataev.ca and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. If we make a material change, we will try to give reasonable notice (for example, a note on the homepage) before it takes effect.
11. How to contact us
Questions, access requests, corrections, and complaints:
- Email: support@strataev.ca
- Mailing address: [TBD: BC mailing address]
If you prefer, you can also complain directly to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the BC Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (contact details in section 7).
